This weeks question comes from R. Caldwell:

Help, the weather is changing and I need help transitioning my makeup routine into fall.

See the season change as a way to break out of your makeup ruts and have fun with the fall trends. This is the perfect season to really play with colors like plums, rich berries, burgundy and of course, classic reds. Keep skin glowing and hydrated by using a moisturizer every day to prevent dry, dull skin. Also, take this opportunity to expand your liner line-up with shades like eggplant and deep green. I hope I have inspired you to leap out of the box and enjoy this new season of change.

This weeks question comes from C. Thomas:

How can I avoid a caked look when applying foundation?

Other than choosing a lighter formula, try using a latex sponge (dampening it slightly) to apply and you will get a more sheer coverage. Also try using a blot powder to set your foundation for a soft matte finish. I hope this helps!

So recently I had the opportunity of working on a cute commercial for Organic Root Stimulator’s Olive Oil Built-In Protection No-Lye Relaxer System. I truly enjoyed working on this commercial shoot and I was super elated to see the final cut air on national television. This commercial is fun, cute and makes you want to see more. Here’s a sneak peak if you haven’t caught it yet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40hYDTgr29w. Here’s some behind the scenes pictures from the set. In the featured image you’ll spot Hairstylist AJ from the new hit reality show Chicagolicious on the Style Network who always brings the humor to long work days.

This weeks question comes from P. Lee:

I want my skin to glow so where should I apply my highlighter?

You can apply a highlighter on your brow bone, down the middle of your nose, on your cupid’s bow and along your cheekbones. Subtle is key when highlighting your skin because you want the glow to look “real” so apply with a medium sized brush. Beware and avoid blemishes because you don’t want to highlight them too.

It’s now summertime and it’s the perfect time to flash a little back via cute maxi dresses and tops so I wanted to give you some quick & easy tips to keep your back clear and free of acne. Just like your face, your back needs some special attention too. Try using a long-handled body brush + dead sea salt to exfoliate twice a week, rub gently in a circular movement to remove the dead skin cells that can block pores. Follow with a cleanser containing antibacterial properties, such as tea tree oil. If you have issues with blackheads try using a cleanser with salicylic acid or alpha hydroxy acids which help to remove pore-clogging debris. Next, add some Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel to your back as soon as you step out of the shower because the combination of oil & water keeps your skin hydrated with the perfect glow that’s sure to last all night long.

I’m so honored to be a Brand Ambassador for the Johnson’s Brand and recently I had the opportunity of visiting their headquarters in Skillman, NJ. This visit was infused with a little bit of work and play. On day one we all met up at the lovely restaurant Elements in Princeton, NJ to eat and mingle then day two was a full schedule. I had the opportunity of teaching a Makeup Class for some of the top bloggers who are apart of Johnson’s Baby Care Council Network. It truly felt like a party because I re-united with some of my beauty “friends” such as Afrobella, Clumps Of Mascara, The Makeup Girl, Blaq Vixen Beauty and also met some new “friends” such as Wholesome Mommy, Baby Loving Mama and so many others. We got a sneak peak in the “lab” to see how Johnson’s Baby Lotion was created from the ingredients to the entire process. We learned so much about Johnson & Johnson and It truly made me proud to be associated with such an amazing and trailblazing brand. As a treat, I was able to pick out some favorite products for everyone to take home and try and I will list some of the products below in case you would like to pick up some of my recommendations. All in all it was truly a great weekend filled with friends, new insight and loads of products. Please visit these blogs and show some love. Check out some of the pictures from my visit.

In recent weeks my schedule has been pretty hectic with work, hence my brief absence from my love, my blog. I have so many upcoming post that I think I’m about to explode. So I wanted to create a post strictly for the lovely products that have had all of my attention lately. I’m constantly on the lookout for products that promise AND deliver and naturally I stick with them. It’s nothing for me to get a text from my clients inquiring about new products or solutions to their skin issues so I’m always eager to embrace trusty products. With that said, here’s a list of some of my newest and dearest products:

Eucerin Professional Repair Lotion- This lotion is the perfect addition to my kit specifically but not exclusively for my male clients. I love the rich formula, yet it feels lightweight + it’s fast absorbing into the skin. Another + for me is that it’s fragrance-free and long-lasting. I have a 6.8oz bottle so I shall downsize it to make it airplane friendly.

Too Faced Royal Oil- OMG this coconut oil body bronzer is like magic. My legs haven’t been the same since my introduction. When I tell you this product gives your arms & legs the perfect FLAWLESS GLOW..believe me. Another reason why I adore this product is because It’s fast-drying and easy to apply without a mess. Simply add product to your hands and apply evenly.

Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner- I’m such a colored eyeliner fanatic so when my box came the first product I pulled out was the eyeliners. I love all of the vibrant colors which are in heavy rotation. I even gave one to my client to test out and the reviews are in…5 stars. I’m not kidding this eyeliner is perfect for the summer heat because it’s water-proof and feels smooth like silk not to mention it has a build-in smudger on the end.

Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick- I’ve been a fan of Dior Beauty for many years however, I just tried the High Shine Lipstick and I am in love. Not only does it deposit the perfect amount of color it just glides on like butter. If your looking for a great new lipstick then look no further.

Tango Zap Advanced Acne Clearing Device- This device is perfect for clearing away acne blemishes fast with no irritation. It has a powerful blue light that destroys acne-causing bacteria. It’s compact and perfect for travel.

These are all tried and true! Have you tried and loved any of my new favorites?

How can I disguise my ruddy cheeks?

If you suffer from rosacea, try using a foundation with a green undertone or a green color corrector to help balance out your flushed cheeks. Once you’ve balanced out your cheeks then set with powder to maintain even skin throughout the day. Thanks for your question!

Can you tell me what blush colors will work on my dark skin:

Try accentuating the natural warmth in your skin by choosing copper tones & deep plums. I also recommend choosing a slightly deep golden shade to highlight the cheekbones. Remember to use a medium blush brush to apply a soft application and build as needed. I hope this helps!

This weeks ask question comes from M. Hughes:

I have an engagement party coming up and I need my lipstick to last for a lengthy time can you give me some suggestions?

Definitely two, start off with smooth moisturized lips, blot then apply first coat of lipstick then dust loose powder over your lips before applying the second coat. Another option would be to start off with a lip primer to give the lipstick something to hold on to. Don’t forget to take your lipstick with you for emergency touch-ups. I hear it’s not lady-like to apply lipstick at the table so be sure to excuse yourself and head to the ladies room. I hope my suggestions work for you. Congrats!!
